As the curtain falls on 2016, we wave goodbye to another fantastic year of sport.

Andy Murray finished the year on top of the world while the England rugby team, so disastrous in 2015, finished the year with 14 wins from 14 under Eddie Jones.

Team GB collected a record 67 medals at the Rio Olympics to eclipse the 65 they won on home soil four years previously in London, while the Paralympics GB team went even further by securing a huge 147 medals to top their 2012 haul of 121.

2017 could also be fantastic year for sport, but from a different perspective.

Here at Meadowvale HQ we have compiled a mini guide on how best to position your pub/ food-to-go/ QSR venue as the place to eat and drink during live sporting events.

Nothing draws in big crowds like the buzz of live sport and 2017 should be no exception. There are a multitude of sporting events happening over the next year including; The African cup of Nations, The increasingly popular Super Bowl, The Six Nations, Masters, Grand National, FA Cup Final and The Champions League Final.

This list of events is only the start; in theory there is a ‘big’ game every weekend in the Premier League and don’t forget a Derby Day.

According to insight from popular Danish brewer Carlsberg, these events provide multiple opportunities for ‘publicans’ and vendors to maximise their profits by engaging existing customers and drawing new ones in.

1/3 of Pub goers will stay at the pub for longer if there is a big event happening.

Insight from Mintel also indicates that sports fans are likely to spend longer, and crucially, spend more, in pubs that offer appealing hot food and snacks during sporting events.

To help you call the smart plays and elevate your home game we have come up with some perfect ideas to make you a ‘Half-time Hero’ by keeping the crowds happy.

Meadow Vale’s new Homestyle range include ideal menu options during the game, appealing to customers who desire a quick and tasty dining solution.

These can be dressed up to suit the occasion and by allowing diners to customise their dish with condiments, toppings and sides of their choice you will impress them with your versatile menu.

Sharing dishes will be even more popular at any sporting event. Meadow Vales’ Homestyle Southern Fried Chicken Strips in particular can be served in baskets as a sharing dish or as part of a pick’n’mix platter for customers looking to share lighter bites during the big game.

With a venue full to the brim with sports fans, having quick and easy food to prepare such as the new Homestyle range is essential.
